Advantage Loss Prevention Services (ALPS)

ALPS Security was founded in 1995 by the current President Tim Lynn. Tim created T.F. Lynn & Associates to provide a range of security services to commercial and residential customers in Calgary. As business grew Tim expanded the scope of security services provided by the company and changed the organization's operating name to Advantage Loss Prevention Services (ALPS). To help manage the growth and meet the needs of an expanding list of clients Paul Lynn joined the organization in 1996.

One of ALPS's initial commercial security customers was Calgary Co-op and Tim and his team are proud that Co-op remains a valued customer. The long term customer relationship is a testament to Tim and Paul's focus on service and providing professional and efficient security solutions.

In 2012 ALPS expanded the scope of service to included criminal background checks through the acquisition of Allison Associated. Residential clients were regularly asking for assistance in expanded home automation installations which led to ALPS also purchasing a specialized home theatre and automation organization in 2012. With this acquisition ALPS is now able to meet all needs of homeowners for alarm installation, home theatre and home automation design and installation, and residential security systems.

Tim Lynn – President
Tim honed his knowledge of security services, investigation, and consulting through 27 years of service with the Calgary Police Department, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. His broad experience within the Police Service covered a range of investigation, security, and management responsibilities which provided an excellent foundation for developing and growing ALPS Security.

Paul Lynn – Vice President
Paul began his career with an Advanced Certificate in Crime Prevention through Environmental Design and joined ALPS after several years of security industry employment. He has a broad industry knowledge which is supported by over 25 years of security industry management experience and has managed ALPS's system installation division since 1995.

Bomb disposal & special weapons
SWAT Team

ALPS team members also contributed to other units within the Police Service and assisted in developing Subjective Voice identification procedures.

ALPS primarily supports community organizations that provide services to children in our community. The company also supports local Police Service and Fire Department fund development initiatives. ALPS has recently provided funding to:

We utilize Quality Assurance as a proactive and strategic tool to identify any vulnerability and uncover any weaknesses in our processes and procedures, our training, and our policies. Our quality assurance goal is to ensure we identify and mitigate risk and always provide the service and quality our clients require. We place a particular focus on areas of a project or contract that are particularly vulnerable to exploitation.
